Bee Removal from Roofs

We will safely remove and relocate bees from your roof

Have you noticed the telltale signs of bee activity in your roof? It’s important to get an experienced bee removal expert to take a look and assess the severity of the situation as soon as possible. Removing bees quickly is essential to minimise damage to your property.

What are the signs of bees in my roof?

It may be that you notice bee activity while you’re outside, seeing them coming and going from the roof of your home. However, if that’s not the case, then the most obvious interior sign will be honey dripping through to your ceiling. This will appear as a dark stain on the ceiling or a murky looking sticky substance which will drip through to the room below. If you notice this, it’s likely that you not only have a colony present but that they are reasonably well established. Fast action is crucial.

Bee removal and relocation

We believe that killing bees is not the answer. Not only do bees have a crucial part to play in the delicate ecological balance of our world, but killing off the hive does not get rid of the problem. If bees are removed but the honeycomb is not, the honey will continue to drip down. This will get even worse once the bees themselves are no longer maintaining the cool conditions it needs to thrive. Over time this can even attract other pests such as hive beetles, causing a secondary infection.

Accessing the roof to Remove Bees

Depending on the layout of your property and where the bees are located, we will find the least invasive method of removal. In an ideal world we will access your roof from the outside, by removing slate or tiles and cutting through any membrane to access the loft cavity. If we do have to access through the ceiling, where a loft hatch is unavailable or unsuitable, we may have to gain access through ceiling plasterboard. In all scenarios, we will communicate with you throughout every step of the process and cause as little disruption as possible.

Preventing another colony from moving in

Once the bees and their hive have been successfully removed, we will look at where they were gaining access and put preventative measures in place to deter other bees from moving into this area in the future. If it is appropriate we will board off an area or fill a hole to stop them from coming back. This will be determined on a case by case basis, but we will provide advice along the way.
